The importance of being an official UCI competition

GAES Catalunya Bike Race presented by Shimano is registered as a UCI XCS 2 event, the maximum possible level for a new MTB stage race

Embracing the regulations and demands imposed by the International Cycling Union (UCI), cycling’s worlwide governing body, assures really high quality and safety standards which a few races can offer.

Besides the chance to get points for the worl ranking or setting prize money, there are other requirements which are advantages for all riders: a clear and uniform sports criteria and rules controlled by commissaires, strict schedules and protocols, infraestructure and organisation at the start and finish area, mandatory route sign posting with arrows, assistance areas for teams, large medical and safety measures, precise timing, great communication and broadcasting, customer service, paddock, services, accident insurance, antidoping controls carried out by official bodies, etc.

GAES Catalunya Bike Race presented by Shimano, which will take place in Bellver de Cerdanya (Lleida) from September 30th to October 1st, is one of the world’s competitions which can satisfy these requirements and one of the few MTB stage races in Spain able to overcome the demands set by the UCI, thanks to the experience adquired at en Andalucía Bike Race presented by Shimano y La Rioja Bike Race presented by Shimano.
