“Each stage has its uniqueness”

Clàudia Galicia (Megamo) is the GAES Catalunya bike Race presented by Shimano ambassador and the new elite Cross Country (XCO) Spanish champion. The 2017 MTB Marathon (XCM) European runner-up, won the last edition of GAES Catalunya Bike Race presented by Shimano and is candidate to ratify the title.

Racing at home is always exciting and I will try to be at the first positions. The most important is to train well in order to do a good GAES Catalunya Bike Race presented by Shimano and finish it in good shape.

The race’s highlights…
The area where it takes place has some impressive landscapes. I have lived there for many years and I like the surroundings, besides the stages will be much enjoyed.

The most attractive stage will be…
Each stage has its uniqueness. The first day’s route is shorter and with beautiful singletracks. The second day there’s about 2.000 metres of elevation and we can enjoy the views of Cadí and La Cerdanya. I think the people will enjoy it much more. The last day we’ll ride again at La Molina Bike Park, which last year was very successful.

A second edition that increases in distance and climbing…
Yes, it will have more kilometres but last year it had very technical and difficult sections. This time the route will be slightly longer but faster, I don’t think it will take longer. This route is thought so that, regardless of the level, the riders can enjoy each stage.

The third stage has nearly half the distance of the first one but the climbing is similar...

Although it’s the shortest stage, it will be tough because we have to add the fatigue of the previous days. This third stage outstands for its really technical downhills, so I think it’s important to save energy to face it.

Your recommendation is…
People should train with time, in technical areas and with singletracks. This way they’ll really enjoy GAES Catalunya Bike Race presented by Shimano!
