Hans Becking and Mónica Calderón, first leaders of BH Catalunya Bike Race by OAKLEY

The Dutchman and the Colombian stand as the fastest in a BH FLASH STAGE marked by speed, heat and dust

About thirty degrees and a few seconds after three in the afternoon, the almost 600 participants of the 6th edition of the BH Catalunya Bike Race by OAKLEY took the start in Puigcerdà to travel the little more than 33 kilometers and 1,100 meters of climbing.  A stage that, in addition, entered for the first time in history in French territory. The first row of departure already indicated who would be the cyclists who would mark the bars. Hans Becking, Tiago Ferreira and Hugo Drechou. And so it has been.

The Portuguese has set the pace and has even managed to open a gap on Becking and Drechou, however, in the long descent of the day the Dutchman has shown his high level descending and has gotten rid of the Portuguese who has also attacked Drechou.

As far as the women's category is concerned, bad day for Txell Figueras who tried in the first climb of the day, but he was not accompanied by the forces and Monica Calderón gave chase to get off the hook and reach the finish line alone.

Thus, Hans Becking and Mónica Calderón are the first leaders of the race with ten seconds on Drechou and two minutes and 5 seconds on Figueras respectively.

For tomorrow, the stage reigns. The SKODA SUPER STAGE with just over 70 kilometers and 2,300 meters of altitude will undoubtedly be the key stage of this sixth edition. A day for which, in addition, high temperatures are expected in La Cerdanya.
