Mónica Calderón and Hans Becking consolidate their lead after a very tough ŠKODA SUPER STAGE

The queen stage, 70 kilometres long and with more than 2,300 metres of elevation gain, wreaked havoc among the participants and made almost definitive differences in the general classification.

It was no coincidence that it was christened the ŠKODA SUPER STAGE. Queen stage. 70 kilometres. More than 2,300 metres of elevation gain and high temperatures. The perfect ingredients for one of the toughest stages in the history of the race.

And in full hardness, Hans Becking and Mónica Calderón have given a punch on the table. Similar script, exact result. Victory and consolidation of the lead.
In the women's category, Mónica Calderón of the Cannondale Arabay Team, managed to open a gap over her main rivals, Txell Figueras of the BUFF Megamo Team and Pilar Fernández of Bike Point Tenerife.

Meanwhile, Becking, Drechou and Ferreira have left the main group. The Portuguese rider took the lead, but the Dutch leader proved to be the strongest of the competition, leaving Tiago Ferreira behind and riding with his teammate Hugo Drechou.

With no change of pace, Hans Becking unhooked his team-mate on the longest climb of the day and flew solo to the finish line. But not without one last hurdle to overcome. The headwind that accompanied him during the last eight kilometres to the finish line.

He reached the finish line with a little more than four minutes of difference over Ferreira and almost five over Drechou. A difference that confirms him as the main favourite, in the absence of the OAKLEY FINISHER STAGE, to win the 6th edition of the BH CATALUNYA BIKE RACE by OAKLEY. Two and a half minutes ahead of Txell Figueras, Mónica Calderón has managed to score and she is the main favourite to win tomorrow.

And what's on the menu tomorrow? Alp for the first time. A very entertaining stage of 40 kilometres and 1,300 metres of elevation gain that will delight the participants in the surroundings of Alp.
