No surprises. Mónica Calderón and Hans Becking have taken the final victory in the BH Catalunya Bike Race by OAKLEY, taking over from Tiago Ferreira and Vera Looser. First victory for both of them in the Catalan round with total domination, moreover.
They have done it in a stage of 40 kilometres and 1,300 meters of unevenness. A very fast day, in which it was necessary to be very concentrated to be well placed and where Tiago Ferreira and Txell Figueras have taken the stage victories.
A day that left Alp, for the first time, and that went in the direction of Prats i Sansor to look for Das and face the area of La Molina by Roca Castellana. Another of the key points of the day was to be the Collada de Toses via Orris de Baix and continue on to the Pla de les Forques.
In terms of competition, Hans Becking opted to preserve his mechanics and not take any risks with regard to the general classification. Hugo Drechou tried from the first kilometres and managed to open up a gap on Ferreira. However, the mechanics did not respect Drechou, who was relegated to second place due to a puncture.
When the Portuguese overtook him, he rode alone to the finish line.
In the women's category, Mónica Calderón and Txell Figueras fought the stage hand in hand with the Catalans, recovering their good sensations. At the finish line, the rider from Girona took the stage victory while the Colombian secured the overall.
An ideal ending, with a very nice and fun stage, to a 6th edition of the BH Catalunya Bike Race by OAKLEY that has gathered almost 600 participants.
Many thanks to all the participants, sponsors, institutions and fans who have made this race possible.
